A little background on the company. Bark Vineyards began operations in early 2004 – born
of a dream by proprietor Kathleen Ramsey. Ms. Ramsey embarked on making novelties
for pets and pet owners i.e. ladies designer handbags. She then introduced the
2005 Barkundy bottled in a 750 ml. wine bottle, which was actually water designed
to be flavored with an attached seasoning packet and poured over the furry friends food.
Those early days quickly vanished along with the seasoning packets. The company has
expanded and is introducing the 2006 varietals. The 2006 is a new, tastier formula
also bottled in a 750 ml. wine bottle, made with only human-grade quality ingredients
and produced in a FDA approved facility (as opposed to the basement and kitchen of the Ramsey house).
Commenting on the rapid growth and success of this start-up company, “Bark Vineyards
was a novelty idea that turned into a success with not only wine lovers but people
who love their dogs and cats like most love their children” said Ramsey. Bark Vineyards
now has 6 full and part-time employees and continues to grow.
Bark Vineyards is wholly owned subsidiary of Sophie Rose, LLC. Based in Williamsburg, VA
and is dedicated to providing quality and healthy products for pets and the people that
