Corgimo; a strange combination of the American Eskimo Dog and the Pembroke Welsh
Corgi. Perhaps even a little beagle added for good measure. A robust, jovial dog
that stands 13 inches at the withers. Charlie is the Corgimo Collars mascot and
co-owner of the company.
We are a small family owned business located in beautiful Columbus, Wisconsin,
nestled closely to the bustling and trendy city of Madison. Fueled by the need
for creative collars for our four dogs, we began to sew feverishly. Handfuls of
collars later, Corgimo Collars was born! Owners and creators, we are Phil Scharine
and Megan Page. We make everything ourselves in small numbers so you can have a
truly unique product.
Megan received her MFA in Printmaking from the University of Wisconsin in Madison
in 2005. Her training is extensive, having worked as a printers assistant and
teaching several printmaking classes in the Art Department. During her course work
Megan became involved with the Textile Design School. There, she learned fabric design,
from dyeing to pattern design and printing her own fabrics. This training has
been paramount to Corgimo Collars, helping to create designs with a totally unique
twist not seen anywhere on the market.
Phil, Megan's husband is an avid bicycle and dog lover. They met during graduate
school when Megan worked at a local Madsion bike shop. Phil openly admits to his
less than artistic ways, but none the less Megan utilized his sharp mechanic mind
during school. Phil became one of the best art assistants ever, and adapted quickly
to the weird and wonderful world of the art student. The rest is history. Marriage,
a new place and a massive yard finally gave them the opportunity to have the dogs
they had been talking about for so long. Phil has the business mind that most
companies can only dream of. He manages all of the complicated stuff, sews, and
cares for the pack.
It all started with one shelter dog named Charlie. Three dogs later, the pack is
full and wonderful. Who knew that the combination of art and dogs would become
our passion?
